He studied painting with Manuel Rodríguez Lozano at the Academy of San Carlos.

He studied photography with Manuel Álvarez Bravo in the Academy of San Carlos.

He exhibited in “Mexican Art Today” in the Philadelphia Museum of Arts (six photos: Day of the Dead, A Tomb, Portrait of Nefero, Girl Plucking Birds, Indians in the Park, Joy, Death in the Tenement: reproduced in the catalogue).

He exhibited in the MoMA (twelve photos, together with Ángel Bracho).

He exhibited in the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art.
1950
The now-lost film Una ventana a la vida (A Window on Life) was shown in Paris. He filmed it under the direction of Manuel Rodríguez Lozano and with script by Rodolfo Usigli.
1960
He participated in the collective exhibition “Lágrimas y Risas” (Tears and Laughter) in the Centro Israelita de México (Israelite Center of Mexico).
He directed the short film El Despojo (The Plundering), with script by Juan Rulfo and cinematography by Rafael Corkidi.

He did the cinematography for the short film La Creación artística. José Luis Cuevas (Artistic Creation, José Luis Cuevas), directed by Juan José Gurrola.

He did the cinematography for Tajimara, a film directed by Juan José Gurrola.

He did the cinematography for Fando y Lis, a film directed by Alejandro Jodorowsky.

He had a one-man exhibition at the Casa del Lago featuring thirteen images brought together by Graciela Iturbide, with the intention of publishing a book with a prologue by Salvador Elizondo.

He was featured in the exhibition “Photography in Mexico 9 Photographers” at the Center for Creative Photography in Arizona, curated by René Verdugo.

He participated in “Mexico: An Exhibit of Mexican Photographers,” an exhibition that took place in El Taller Latinoamericano (The Latin American Workshop) in New York City.
