Emilio “El indio” Fernández(1904-1986)

Film director, producer and actor. Among his most outstanding films are Flor silvestre, La perla, Enamorada, Río Escondido, Pueblerina, La malquerida and Salón México. He won the Ariel award in Mexico, the Palme d’Or in Cannes (a prize for which he was nominated two more times), the Golden Globe in the United States and the Venice Film Festival awarded him for the cinematography in La Perla.
